Coconut Porter

Coconut Porter

Posted on Apr 29, 2014

My adventures in coconut have payed off. I just opened my coconut porter on Easter and I did so cautiously. When I bottled the beer, I tasted it and was very sad. It did not taste very good at all. But knowing that beer changes between bottling and drinking glass, I pushed on. Now I’m glad I did. This turned out very tasty. I gave Holly a sip and she almost didn’t give it back. I’ave come to really enjoy wheat beers. A few that stick in my mind are Kona Brewing Company’s Wailua Wheat, Gordon Biersch Hefeweizen, and Hoegaarden. I haven’t brewed a hefeweizen in a while, yet I’ve been cultivating American Ale yeast to use for my beers. What this led me to was the creation of an American Pale Wheat Ale, hoping for some of the delicious wheat characteristics to be blended with the...
